What is the propose and nature of the organisation?
School library programs continue to undergo momentous changes that have heightened the importance of technology and evidence-based learning. The focus has moved from the library as a confined place to one with fluid boundaries that is layered by diverse needs and influenced by an interactive global community. Guiding principles for school library programs must focus on building a flexible learning environment with the goal of producing successful learners skilled in multiple literacies.
As formats, technologies, schools are evolving, the library needs to respond to the changing needs of learners in a digital society, and to exploit the potential of new technologies in supporting learning. The school library should be a place for encouraging innovation, curiosity and problem solving, and should reflect the overall vision of the school.
How are they trying to support innovative practices with IT in school?
Give example.
To build a learning space for new generations of student, AALS has the following IT goals:
In the National Library of New Zealand, one of the key competencies it addresses is helping students develop questioning skills and become creative and critical thinkers. These are essentially the skills that define 21st century learning.
The Springfield Library website is linked to forum for discussion, and has access to technological resources that enrich learning. It is meant to be a virtual library where students can view a collection of e-books and documents.
Because of the wealth of information provided by school libraries, students and teachers need to discern which information is most relevant for them. The skill of being able to search for information rapidly is innovative.

How might their work impact on the Ecosystem which supports innovative practice?
The school library is a central learning environment for the whole school community. In many ways, it functions like a greenhouse as listed in the table below. Learning space such as the library impacts the whole school because the many activities that take place in the library impacts learning and vice versa. There is in fact, evidence showing the impact of the school library on student achievement. http://schools.natlib.govt.nz/supporting-learners/effective-practice/school-library-purpose. The way the school library utilises technology also has a profound effect on student learning and outcomes.
