Meng Tan I am 23 years old and I’m Aries. I come from Xiangtan, Hunan province where chairman Mao was born. I like spicy food. More spicy more better.
I graduated from Hunan normal university in Changsha last year. My major was broadcast and TV journalism. Honesty, I like media very much, it gives me much inspiration. The reason why I chose IT education is complicated. My parents used to be teachers since I was young so I have a special feeling about education. After my college time, I was into new technology, and I was eager to know how to apply technology into education. So I come and join with you. I’m looking forward to make friends with you guys. |
Zhenzhen XiaHi guys, this is Zhenzhen Xia from Wenzhou, mainland China.
I graduated from Zhejiang Gongshang University majored in economics. However, I am very enthusiastic about working with kids and that’s why I used to be a teaching assistant in both kindergarten and elementary school when I was an exchange student in America. I also worked as a tutor in Global Marketing Management class in my university, basically helping my professor design the class PPT and grade the homework and exams. I love teaching and working with students very very much. Also, I have interned at Bosch company in the marketing department. It's the work there that makes me realize how important infornation technology is in our life, and how much more I have to catch up with. Although I may lack some experience with ITC educational technology, I do believe I could make up for it with my passion in this class! |
Dan ZhuHello, everyone, my name is Zhu Dan. You can call me Judy.
When I was a college student, my major was verbal and written English translation. Since I joined voluntary English teaching programs for children of farmers and workers, I was deeply unsatisfied with the uneven educational opportunities in China. It was then I determined to change my studies to long-distance education, and become a specialist in developing long-distance teaching and learning research in China, and, perhaps influence the improvement of country-level education capabilities in underdeveloped countries as well.
My first job was as an online teacher with the Neusoft Group for two years, a leading company in software de velopment, and put into practice all that I had self-learned during my college years. During this time my interest in online education also matured to the point where I then joined Meten Online School, where I’ve remained over the last four years. Starting as an online course developer, within six months I was promoted to project supervisor of online school information system development, then to manager of the teaching department, and, one year ago, to operations manager of the online school, with a student population exceeding 100,000. During this four-year period, the idea of pursuing professional study in the field of information and communication in education rooted itself firmly in my mind. To achieve this goal, I look forward to extending my knowledge in education information and communications technology, audio-lingual study software, e-leadership, and emerging technologies and their impacts on educational practices and policies. Considering my interests, I believe the Information Technology in Education program at Hong Kong University would be an ideal place for me to pursue my dream. I really enjoyed the days spent with you guys |

Blog: claude331.wordpress.com If you drop by my classroom, you might see students doing a show and tell using PowerPoint, or throwing a bean bag at the interactive whiteboard to answer a question. I see myself as a facilitator who provides students a set of tools and skills to use as they explore a topic on their own. Technology is one of the tools that I believe will motivate students to learn independently as well as collaboratively. As a teacher, I try to take risks in utilising technology in lessons. Many years ago, I was the first teacher to launch a classroom wiki page in class, which eventually became a school wide initiative. More recently, I became Google certified and led workshops for school members. I believe that as I continue to learn about new uses of technology, my students will be enthused by the ideas I present to them, and in turn be motivated to use technology in their academic life. I love my job and wish to seek further opportunities to grow professionally. I think working in a different environment will allow me to meet other dedicated teachers with innovative strategies and ideas. |
